Basically, it's a smart tool from OpenAI. It's like having a mini U to chat with. You teach it by sharing your talks, your books, and your blog posts. And then it gets to know how you sound and what it's like making a copy of the way you talk and think and putting it into a computer. This means you can have a helper that answers questions just like you would at any time of the day. It's pretty cool because it lets you share your ideas with more people just by typing on a screen or eventually speaking to it. You can access it, but all you need to be is a paying member of ChatGPT, which is around 22 US dollars a month, so very good value. So what is MyGPT and what's the innovation behind it? The idea behind MyGPT is to take the powerful language abilities of a large AI system and make them personal, nice and small. OpenIO created this tool with the thought that everyone has their own way of speaking and writing, which makes you special. Before AI could talk on, it didn't sound like any particular person. My GPT actually changes that. It learns from what you've made, your words, your style, and your knowledge. And obviously that's going to make a big difference to its output. This is new because it means the API can, sorry, the AI can become a version of you, not just a smart robot like all the other robots. The innovation here is going from a one size fits all glove to one that fits your hand perfectly. It's a big step in making AI more useful for everyone because it can help you talk to people in your own way, even when you can't be there in person. So how does it replicate your style and knowledge based on your content? My GPT can capture your unique way of speaking knowledge shared through your content. When you provide it with your writings or recordings, the AI examines everything closely, it learns how you construct your sentences, the words you prefer, and the concepts you often discuss. It pays attention to patterns like your favorite sayings or how you break down tricky ideas. It also picks up on your personality traits, whether you're usually formal or more laid back, whether you're serious or you've got a sense of humor. Through this process, MyGPT becomes skilled at responding to questions and writing pieces that sound as if you created them yourself. They're filled with your knowledge and have your distinctive voice. This is quite innovative because it allows you to extend your reach, giving people a sense that they're actually interacting with you directly, even when it's actually the AI engaging with them. So I have used this tool quite extensively over the last week. The first thing I did was actually create a virtual me from my leadership podcast, Leaders in the Line of Fire. I can ask it questions and it will answer based on how I think and speak, based on my transcripts from the podcast that I uploaded. I've asked it to create quotes on my work, I've asked it to come up with social media sayings, all sorts of things. And the interesting part is it really does sound like me when it outputs information. It's better than straight to ChatGPT because I can tell it to use only my content. So I force it to be locked into my content and not go elsewhere. Now you can leave it open, but it's your choice. You can tell it what you want it to do. I'm going to load all of my content from this podcast series in there, and I'm going to create a virtual speaker marketing AI for people to use. So that's one of my foregoing goals, but I have to prepare the data or the transcription in this case because it can't read audio yet. I've also made a My GPT that uses the content of one website only, its career website from a client. So I can ask it about its job for someone who loves art, and it will only bring back career choices in agriculture that are in that field. So it's really good for creating content specific to one area. Now, obviously, whatever you put into it is up to you, but how you train your AI will depend on what you get out. So, how do you use MyGPT as a speaker or content creator? As a speaker or content creator, leveraging the capabilities of MyGPT can be streamlined into your workflow and enrich your audience's experience. Imagine having instant access to your own library of speeches, presentations, writings, etc., all through a simple conversation with an AI that thinks like you. This convenience allows you to quickly pull quotes, statistics, stories from your past content, making speech preparation and content creation an absolute breeze. It's like having your own personal research assistant, and I always say AI is about having an assistant to help you, who knows your work inside and out. This is great because you don't have to train someone on your work. As I said, it's an assistant, it's not necessarily replacing a human. Beyond preparation, sorry, beyond preparation, MyGPT can transform audience engagement, providing interactive and personalized videos and experiences that resonate deeply. Obviously, you can take the text content, you can feed it into other AI, which will then make videos, or you can record them yourself. From a live question-answer session to tailoring your digital content for different platforms, the integration of MyGPT into your speaking repertoire opens up a world of creative possibilities, ensuring that your unique voice is heard across multiple channels. I think the really interesting part here is that it's the convenience of being able to pull information from your own materials. Imagine going back through 10 or 15 years of speeches. Now, if you've got them recorded, obviously you can now get them transcribed by AI, and you can take all that content and feed it in to my GPT. Think about being able to query everything you've ever said or written. All those years of knowledge are yours and everyone else's fingertips. I know in my experience, I've got to dig back through things to find stuff and come up with content. Imagine having it all right there. Even better, imagine being able to take that content and give a client access to it. So you can actually create a tool that a client can query when they require an answer around a particular topic. You can literally create a virtual U. I really like that aspect of it. And the other thing is it's quick and portable. You can do it on the web, or you can actually do it through the OpenAI app as that changes. So imagine you had to prepare a custom speech for an audience. You could just go and ask for, give it a topic, and then based on your information, it can spit out five or six bullet points you might want to cover in that topic based on stuff that you've taught before. You can give it an outline or a good description of what you want to cover and out'll come really quickly. You can also use it to create instant quizzes or questions for workbooks or for Kahoot or whatever you want because all of your knowledge is there to access. And as you do new things, you can add that in as well. Obviously, you've already seen ChatGPT and how fast and clever it is. Imagine having that on your own content. It's crazy cool. One of the really powerful ways you can extend this is actually use OpenAI's assistance. I'm getting tongue-tied today. OpenAI has MyGPT, which is like a closed environment within that paid space of ChatGPT. But the great thing is they have this thing called assistance where you can do the same sort of thing, but actually make it enabled so the public can access it. And this is where you'll see things develop over the next couple of years. I know that's next level, but I think you should know about it. They're like MyGPT, but they can be connected to other applications through Zapia and automation tools to do multiple tasks based on querying your GPT, your content. Think of it this way: you can make an assistant that answers a client's questions about your topic and charge them for accessing your virtual twin. Or you can set it up so that when you ask ChatGPT a question, it can send the result in your own words, via email to your email marketing list, add it to a Google spreadsheet, feed it into Canva to make a graphic, and finally send it to Buffer to go to your social media instantly. And guess what? You can actually do that now, right now with your own content. So setting up your own AI companion. Starting out on the journey to set up your own AI companion with MyGPT is simpler than you think. Even if you're not a tech quiz, it starts with gathering a diverse mix of your best content, speeches, articles, shows, to teach the AI about your style and expertise. The richer and more varied your materials, the smarter and more versatile your digital twin will become. I'm going to walk you through the pretty straightforward sets to setting up your AI and share some key tips now on how you can do that and some of the things you can do to refine that. I'm going to keep it simple for this, but there's more information online, and I'll certainly be going into this in my new course that I'm about to release. So let's have a look at some non-technical steps to get started with MyGPT. MyGPT is designed to be user-friendly and it's focused on simplicity. So here are some good steps. First of all, you need to gather your content. Collect a variety of written materials, note that written materials. Articles, blog posts, and transcripts of your speeches and podcasts. The more comprehensive, the better they can learn. You need to organize your materials, so arrange the content in a clear and structured format. This could mean categorizing by topics, dates, or types of content, e.g. educational versus inspirational. To help the AI understand the different aspects of your work. You need to create your data set. So this is all that content put together. Using the guidelines which you'll find at OpenAI, you can format your content into a data set that is useful for MyGPT to learn from. This generally involves creating a text file or a series of text files. Now I've done it with one big text file. I haven't tried it with a series of text files, but it needs to be text-based because of the way the system works. You then submit your data through the AI program and you upload it into the system. And this is where MyGPT starts the training process, absorbing your unique way of communicating. So to do that, basically you go to chat.openai.co.com, sorry, and click on explore in the left sidebar. Then click create a GPT to get started. In the window, you'll see create slash configure two boxes. All you need to know is that you can talk to the builder by telling it what you need to create in the create section. You can just use normal English. You can then switch to configure, and under knowledge, you upload your data, the data set we talked about, the content you want to be added to its brain, and then that trains your AI twin. Once you've created the basic AI, MyGPT, and you've uploaded your data, then you can test and refine what you've got. So once that initial training is complete, you'll want to have conversations with your AI and ask it to create content with you, answer questions, etc. See how well it matches your style and provides accurate information. If you want to change it, go back to the builder side and tell it how to change its style. It will change its own instructions in the back based on the updates and questions you ask it in the builder side. So just say it's being too formal, you can go back and say, the output's too formal, please make it more casual. And then once that's uh loaded and saved, then go back in and ask it some questions and see if you get a better answer out. Obviously, there's a process of continuous learning, so keep your AI updated with the latest information, keep your relevance there, and also as your style evolves, make sure you give it more information about how you want things presented. Throughout this process, it's essential to focus on the quality of what you're teaching the AI, ensuring that it reflects your best work and thought leadership. Regularly interacting with your AI and reviewing its outputs will help you tweak it to perfection, guaranteeing that your digital voice is truly your own. You're going to have to play with it. Your first GPT might be bad, but you've got to start small. It's really important to provide a wide variety of content for training the API. So selling your GPT. I've got a couple of thoughts on making money from your GPT. Number one, you can sell access to it by turning it into an assistant, and obviously you can get someone to do that for you, that can be embedded on a password-protected website and then give clients the ability, once they pay, to query that GPT. There's obviously cost symbols in the queries, but you're talking like 0.04 cents per hundred words, etc., etc., etc. You can look that up on OpenAI. Number two, you can keep it to yourself, but leverage your time, as always. And number three, OpenAI is launching the GPT store, featuring creations by verified builders. Once in the store, GPTs become searchable and may even climb some leaderboards. We really don't know what's going to happen there yet. OpenAI also spot the most useful and delightful GPTs they come across in categories like productivity, education, and just for fun. In the coming months, you'll be able to earn money based on how many people are using a GPT. So it's a bit like you get paid for people using it and they pay for access to it. So you get a little percentage of the profits from what I understand, but that may change. So look, lots of opportunity coming. The world of MyGPT is only going to grow faster and faster.
